WHAT WE DO:
We are so happy to welcome you to the world of the thistlemouse-- a magical blend of laughter, creativity, fantasy,
history and inspiration. A thistlemouse production connects with children and families in a way that is meaningful, moving
and lots of fun! It addresses big issues-- hope, freedom, family life, the courage to dream and risk, history-- in a very direct,
personal and audience engaging style. The husband and wife team of Carl Anderson, Ph.D. and Peyton Hayslip, with over 20 years
each experience creating and performing, touch the heart, funny bone and soul while educating and enlightening. They believe
that kids learn while laughing and that the creative arts of storytelling and theater can enhance critical educational goals and ideals.
WHO WE ARE:
While many of you know of Carl Anderson's and Peyton Hayslip's individual work, you may not be familiar with their
collaborative effort, thistlemouse productions. thistlemouse focuses on creating and producing high quality, thoughtful and fun entertainment
for children, families, and adults.
Their repertoire includes their individual efforts such as Carl's series of storytelling
performances for elementary school children, and monologues for adults. And Kate James: Portrait of a Texas Pioneer, a biographical
monologue written and performed by Peyton based on the journals of her great-great-great grandmother who settled in Texas in 1855
as a 4 year old girl.
The two combine their creative and performing talents for a touching and entertaining overview of family
life in My Family/My Friends, and again in Tales of the North Pole with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
One advantage the talented pair
enjoys is their ability to shape and create entertainment of various styles and lengths from 10 minutes to all day. thistlemouse
is tackling big themes such as freedom, hope, courage, and family in their own small way and is very open to collaboration and conjoint
performances with other companies and individuals.
While much of their work is at schools, churches, and special events, they
are certainly open to theatrical bookings. Contact them for more info!
